Job Summary | The University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks a dynamic and accomplished academic endocrinologist to serve as Program Director for its ACGME-accredited Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship Program. Reporting to the Division Chief and working in close collaboration with the Vice Chair of Education, the Program Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of the fellowship. This includes advancing clinical excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a rigorous and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of endocrinology education at UK, while cultivating academic growth and meeting the evolving needs of both the institution and the broader community. The ideal candidate will exhibit emotional intelligence, a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, and a passion for training future leaders in Endocrinology. The selected individual will be a recognized academic leader with a proven track record of excellence in clinical care, research, clinical education, and mentorship. Strong leadership abilities as a compassionate listener, strategic decision-maker, and an effective collaborator are essential. The candidate should demonstrate integrity, foster trust among colleagues, and possess excellent communication skills. Prior administrative experience in an academic medical center setting is preferred. Key Responsibilities In collaboration with the Division Chief and Vice Chair of Education, the Endocrinology Fellowship Program Director will have responsibility, authority, and accountability for: program administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; fellow recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion of fellows, and disciplinary action; supervision of fellows; and fellow education in the context of patient care. The role will be provided 20% FTE of non-clinical time.
