Maine Medical Partners (MMP) Endocrinology & Diabetes Center in combination with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a FT BC/BE Endocrinologist to join the Portland-based Endocrinology & Diabetes Care practice with a special practice focus on reproductive endocrinology and infertility and trainee education.
The endocrinology specialists at Maine Medical Partners Endocrinology & Diabetes Center include 10 physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers. Providers at MMP Endocrinology care for patients with endocrine issues, including thyroid disease, pituitary problems, adrenal disorders, transgender needs, reproductive concerns, and certain types of bone disease, diabetes mellitus, lipid disorders and other hormonal disorders. The Center offers comprehensive services, including dynamic testing for endocrine disorders, infusion services, DXA, 1-131 therapy, thyroid ultrasound and on-site biopsy. Physicians at the Center have a full working relationship with area primary care physicians and endocrine surgeons and have developed a comprehensive Diabetes in Pregnancy Program in conjunction with the physicians at Maine Medical Partners Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
This position is vital to the Maine Medical Center Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training program due to the special practice focus in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The OB GYN residency program accepts 4 residents annually and has been training graduates since 1976. Within the department of OB GYN and supporting the residency program, the MaineHealth Medical Group Portland-based Obstetrics and Gynecology practice includes 23 physicians and 11 advanced practice providers.
The successful candidate will practice at the Endocrine & Diabetes Center in Scarborough. The physician’s time will be split between reproductive endocrinology (including polycystic ovarian syndrome and its associated metabolic syndrome, primary ovarian insufficiency, primary/secondary amenorrhea/oligomenorrhea, androgen excess, galactorrhea/hyperprolactinemia and basic infertility) and general endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. The candidate will participate in postgraduate trainee clinical and didactic education of obstetrics and gynecology and internal medicine residents specifically related to reproductive endocrinology. Ideal candidates would be fellowship trained in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism or Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.
