Central Utah Clinic, incorporated in 1969, is comprised of 100+ physicians offering care in most specialties. Although Central Utah Clinic offers general medical care, the majority of its physicians are specialists. Because of its commitment to providing quality patient care, Central Utah Clinic actively works to ensure adequate healthcare resources exist in the communities it serves. In a number of specialties, including Endocrinology. Central Utah is currently the only Endocrinology provider in its market area.
As a group of independent physicians, Central Utah Clinic values first and foremost the quality of care patients receive and their right to participate with their physician in treatment decisions. Central Utah physicians treat their patients with compassion, dignity and respect, regardless of ability to pay.
Company History
History of Central Utah Clinic
Central Utah Clinic was started by three internists-Doctors Nimer, Parker and Gardener-in the early 1960s with the mission of meeting the growing health care needs of Utah County residents. From the beginning, the group focused on treating its patients with dignity and respect and enhancing the quality of their lives.
The fledgling group-first known as Central Utah Medical Clinic-practiced out of a home in Provo for several years until its growing patient base and the addition of new physicians forced it to move into a larger building in 1962. In 1969, the organization incorporated and moved to its current location at its main campus located at 1055 North 500 West in Provo. By the late 1970s and early 80s, Central Utah Medical Clinic had grown to include 15 physicians practicing in four specialties: internal medicine, gastroenterology, cardiology and dermatology.
Central Utah Clinic has always been committed to providing patient care to residents in rural communities. In 1978, Central Utah physicians established partnerships with local clinics located across central Utah from Beaver and Richfield to Heber City and Delta. On a monthly basis, Central Utah physicians travel to these clinics to provide patients with care in a number of specialties including cardiology, nephrology, oncology, sports medicine and orthopedics. Today Central Utah physicians continue to provide the latest care and treatments to patients in these areas.
In order to provide healthcare to all community members within Utah Valley, Central Utah Medical Clinic opened an internal medicine office in Payson in 1994 and an internal medicine office in Orem in 1998. Central Utah expanded its presence to northern Utah County in 2001 when it opened a location in American Fork. The location first offered cancer services and added gastroenterology care in 2002.
As Central Utah Medical Clinic continued to grow, the group changed its name to Central Utah Multi-Specialty Clinic in 2001 to better reflect the services its physicians rendered. In July of 2002, Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Associates joined Central Utah Clinic. The 11-physician group brought expanded services and access to Central Utah Clinic in Provo, Orem, Payson and other smaller communities throughout the state.
To better reflect its expanding specialties and new state-of-the-art facilities, Central Utah Multi-Specialty Clinic changed its name to Central Utah Clinic in 2004. The simpler name better states the geographic location of the clinic.
In January of 2004, Central Utah Clinic opened its Sports Fitness and Physical Therapy department at the main campus in Provo. The new services provide a complement to the Sports Medicine and Orthopedics department and other specialties in addition to offering Sports Acceleration to athletes.
Central Utah Clinic opened its Cancer Center at the organization's main campus in Provo in December 2003. The new Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art facility, which combines the most sophisticated technology with attractive surroundings to ensure patients benefit from the best physical and emotional care available in Utah County. The Center also houses a branch of the Huntsman Cancer Learning Center. The Learning Center provides patients, family members and residents access to cancer related information.
Central Utah Clinic added a pharmacy to its Provo location in April of 2007.
