Cleveland Clinic, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a not-for-profit, multispecialty academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Cleveland Clinic is structured as a group practice. The doctors on staff are salaried employees of Cleveland Clinic and are not in private practice. They pool their wisdom and expertise for the benefit of the patient and the community. The main hospital campus is located near Cleveland's historic University Circle. Occupying 140 acres and 37 buildings, the main campus includes a hospital, an outpatient clinic, cancer center, eye institute, research institute and supporting labs and facilities. The Cleveland Clinic health system comprises of nine community hospitals and three affiliate hospitals. It was the first health system in Northeast Ohio acrredited by JCAHO, the nations' largest accreditor of healthcare organizations.
Cleveland Clinic is recognized by many independent organizations for the quality of care it provides. Some of these awards and recognition include: US News & World Report who consistently name Cleveland Clinic as one of the nation's best hospitals, including the nation's #1 heart center, in its annual "America's Best Hospitals" survey.
