Company History

In 1969, the state Legislature established the Texas Tech School of Medicine in Lubbock to provide health care to the residents of West Texas and to educate health care providers in the area. A decade later the charter expanded the institution to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with Lubbock as the administrative center. Additional campuses were established in Amarillo, El Paso and Odessa.

With the expansion came schools of nursing, pharmacy, allied health sciences and biomedical sciences. TTUHSC's schools are recognized among the top in the nation, and faculty and students are recognized for their accomplishments on local, regional and national levels.

In the past decade we've added campuses at Abilene, Dallas, Highland Lakes and El Paso.

TTUHSC serves the health care needs of more than 2.6 million people living in a 108-county area stretching from the Texas Panhandle south to the Permian Basin and west into Eastern New Mexico.

And, about half of TTUHSC's 10,000 graduates remain in Texas to practice.

Our goal is to become known as an institution that advances knowledge for students and practicing health care professionals through educational opportunities and research while providing quality patient care and service to the community.
